Q: What is Personal Training?

Personal training is exercising under the guidance of a certified fitness expert to reach your weight, health, exercise, or athletic goals.

Training can consist of one-on-one workouts, as well as group and team coaching. Your trainer will motivate you, and get you to push pass your threshold into a whole new mindset of exercising, taking you to limits that you never would have gone to on your own.

Working with a trainer, anyone can achieve their fitness goals – whether they're as simple as touching your toes to finishing a marathon, losing weight to gaining flexibility, developing speed/agility to simply feeling good again.

How do I know if a Personal Trainer is right for me?

If you answer "YES" to any of the statements below then getting a Personal Trainer at
Watefront Fitness might be the solution you've been looking for!

I want to lose more body fat and tone my muscles more than I have been.
I want to improve my diet and nutrition.
I want to get as much out of my workouts as I possibly can and not
just “go through the motions”.
I want more motivation and be more consistent in my workouts.
I want to have more energy, endurance, and enthusiasm.
I want to look better and feel better.

How are Waterfront Fitness Personal Trainers different from trainers at a chain gym, like 24hr Fitness or Gold's Gym or even a specialized establishment like Curves?

First and foremost, we are privately owned and huge crowds are not a part of the Waterfront Fitness Personal Training experience. We focus on you. We have no alliances to huge corporate gyms, and we work for our clients only. Unfortunately, many corporate trainers are paid bonuses and are under a lot of pressure to sell clients supplements and other things they may not need. Their job is to keep you coming in, whether you're making progress or not, and their workout routines are designed for the masses. We design each program including nutritional advice from scratch, based on your individual needs and current fitness level. As a small business we are aware of the fact that our clients are our most important assett, we want you to have a great experience with us and in turn perhaps you would even tell people about us, therefore it is imperitive to us that each and every individual who takes part in Personal Training sessions receive the highest of quality service.

Q: Are you going to make me look like a body builder?

A: If you’re looking to become a body builder, we’ll refer you to the trainers who specialize in physique contests preparation – that’s not our specialty. We’ll be training you to be physically fit and healthy, to lose weight, get in shape and to enhance energy & vitality. You will build some lean, toned muscle as you train, and your body will change positively as a result.

Q: Are you going to try selling me a huge package of training sessions or use high pressure sales tactics?

A: Absolutely not!

We figure that if you've read this far then you must already be thinking seriously enough about your health and fitness in order to want to make changes. We would rather clients come to us with their specific needs instead of us having to try a bunch of sales pitches and gimmicks on you in order to lock you into something you don't even want or need before you have time to think. Many gyms, health clubs, fitness centers and personal trainers entice you into signing up for months or years of membership. This is not our approach and not what we consider good business. We are professional trainers who work with clients because it’s our lifelong passion and labor of love.

We are so confident in our approach that we offer pay as you go personal training and you can discontinue at any time. We simply don’t feel the need to lock anyone into a long contract or sell huge personal training packages. Although we do make package options available in order to offer you a discount reward for clients who are ready to commit to multiple sessions or are loyal returning customers.

Q: How long is each session?

A: Each Personal Training session will last for one (1) hour.

Our training incorporates multiple muscle group movements allowing us to accomplish a maximum amount of fitness in the shortest amount of time. Of course, we progress clients based upon their existing condition level – new exercisers begin gently and more advanced enthusiast progress more aggressively.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Wear what you’re comfortable wearing. Most clients train in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, Some people even wear sweats. It doesn't matter as long as you feel comfortable. We do however recommend you wear athletic style footwear.

Q: Can my spouse, children or friend train with me too?

A: Of course! In fact, we encourage it. Our goal is to help as many people as possible and getting your friends and family involved is a great way to develop a support network and will help everyone involved to look great, feel great and have even more fun than on your own! Small group training discounts will be applied when training in groups of 2 or more.

Q: Can I train anytime I want?

A: All training sessions are by appointment made directly with your trainer. We generally begin as early as 5:00am or as late as 8:00pm. At your intital consultation, we’ll set up a meeting time that’s convenient for you. With our approach, you’ll make sure you get to your workouts. Chances are if you put it off, you won’t do it, continuing your frustration with reaching your health & fitness goals. Your trainer will hold you accountable for your attendance at your scheduled sessions. For more on this refer to our Personal Training pricing policies.

Q: I feel a little nervous about getting started, I have never done anything like this before.

A: Many new clients feel that way to begin with – it’s completely normal. We generally find that after you meet with your trainer for the first time, you will feel exceptionally comfortable with our positive attitudes and encouraging training approach. We are guided by a simple passion for helping people – we thrive by educating clients and designing programs that take them well beyond their goals, beyond what they ever thought was possible. We’re here to support you and bring out your best in health, in fitness, in mind and in body. That’s our promise and commitment to you.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Private personal training ranges from $50 – $60 per session, depending on the package you purchase (more sessions = lower rate). If you add a spouse, child or friend to your session the cost is significantly lower per person.

Ask yourself what taking charge of your health, energy & vitality and getting into great shape is worth to you? Most people find that in just 4-6 one-hour sessions with a personal trainer guiding them they learn more about proper nutrition and exercise than they have by reading 10 books or exercising on their own. You will soon realise that your health, fitness and overall improved lifestyle that this has been one of the most important investments you have ever made, and you will never look back. Taking with you newfound exercise tools, better nutritional habits and lifestyle changes leading to postive healthy enhancements in your life right now and in the future.

Q: How do I get started?

Once you have supplied us with the necessary information about yourself by email or phone, a trainer will then contact you directly and from that point on you deal directly with your trainer on all matters. All consultations and sessions are to be set with that trainer.

Q: How often should I train?

To effectively answer this question, you must first be assessed and speak with a trainer before any amount of days are determined. Everyone is different, so what may work for one may not always work for the next. The amount of training days also depends upon your current conditions, goals (how quickly you want to achieve them), schedule, budget and your trainer’s availability. You may "need" to workout with a trainer four days a week, but only have the time or budget for two days a week. In these cases, the trainer will work to teach you a program that you can do on your own for the days that you cannot work with a trainer. When considering the cost, be sure to remember that this is your health and there is nothing else that is more important...if you don’t have your health, then what else is there? You could also try combining some personal training sessions with some Group Fitness sessions to make sure you maintain great results through the ongoing motivation of our trainers.

On average most clients do best when they meet with a personal trainer 2-3 times per week...less than that many people slack off and don't reach their goals. Here are a few things to keep in mind when determining how often you'll meet with your trainer:

1. Do you really know the exercises that well, and are you doing the same thing all the time?
2. Are you really and truly pushing yourself to the max and beyond? Honestly?
3. How fast do you want to see results and achieve your goals?

Q: Where will I meet with my trainer?

Personal training is offered in the comfort of your home or office, a local park or athletic field convenient for you, your housing development fitness center (if there is one), the trainer’s studio (where applicable), and also at local gyms.

If using the local gym, you must first consult with your trainer to find out if that gym allows outside trainers to train at the gym of your preference, is that trainer already a trainer at that particular gym, and if not, what additional costs are there for the trainer to come to the gym. The trainer can help you answer these questions.

The cost of our Personal Training programs is the same whether you have a trainer come to you or meet with one in a health club. The only additional cost may be a membership fee (or a guest fee) if you are working with a trainer in a health club and you are not already a member.
